Electrocardiography (ECG) is frequently used to evaluate the electrical conduction through the heart. It is used as a screening test in at risk breeds and senior patients as well as to evaluate abnormalities found during the physical exam such as abnormal rhythms and rates. ECG results are transmitted to a Board Certified Cardiologist to allow for in-house consultation.
Blood pressure measurement provides important information to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of many conditions that affect the heart, kidneys, central nervous system and the endocrine system.
Radiography or x-rays are performed on site with high quality equipment and experienced technicians. Contrast imaging is available if needed. All radiographs are saved in hard copy but more importantly, digitally on the computer. Using a secure site, our patients’ radiographs are sent via the internet to Board Certified Radiologists who provide rapid interpretation, diagnosis and treatment options.
Digital dental radiography is used to provide detailed images of the oral cavity. They are an essential part of our dentistry care, allowing for a rapid view of the patients mouth while minimizing anesthesia time. This equipment is also very useful in creating x-rays of some of our special species patients like birds and rodents.
Ultrasonography is a noninvasive diagnostic technique sends sound waves through a region of the body and measures the rate at which they return. This information is transformed into a two dimensional picture. Internal organs such as the liver, spleen, bladder, kidneys, intestines and heart can be evaluated. We also utilize the ultrasound machine to help us guide needles into specific organs to retrieve cell samples for diagnosing internal conditions.
Intensive care and hospitalization
Our intensive care unit provides a separate, quiet and comfortable area that is within clear view of our treatment area. All efforts are made to make your companion as comfortable as possible during the recovery process. For some patients, visitation can be scheduled. Ask your doctor for details.
